Dr. and Mrs. Jim Rungee will host the first annual Murfreesboro Youth Orchestra "Rite of Spring" brunch on Saturday, June 6, 2009 from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. The event will support the activities of the orchestra whose mission is to "keep youth in music and music in youth." Murfreesboro Youth Orchestra is comprised of elementary and secondary school student musicians from Rutherford and surrounding counties and provides a unique experience for musicians and patrons alike. Performances of the orchestra are held at Hinton Hall in the Wright Auditorium Music Building at MTSU in September, January, November, February and May. Among other activities, the Murfreesboro Youth Orchestra and Preparatory String Orchestra provide free concerts each year as part of their annual Music to Go Tour.

Tickets are $25 per person and can be obtained by calling the Murfreesboro Youth Orchestra at 849-3803.

MYO and PSO Student Excellence!

43% of our MYO and PSO students qualified for Tennessee’s Mid-State Band or Orchestras, and 39% of our senior high students were accepted into the All-State Band or Orchestra this year! In addition, 25% of our eligible students (10th or 11 graders) have been selected for the prestigious Governor’s Schools of the Arts of Tennessee, which is held on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University.
We are proud to have such gifted musicians and students right here in the
Murfreesboro Youth Orchestra!
